Sogyal Rinpoche

Sogyal Rinpoche (born 1947) is a Buddhist teacher from Tibet.
Sogyal Rinpoche was born in Lakar family region of Kham, Tibet. He received the traditional training of a Tibetan lama under the close supervision of Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö. Jamyang Khyentse was one of the most outstanding spiritual masters of the twentieth century.
After Rinpoche attended a Catholic school in Kalimpong, India and then at Delhi University in India’s capital. In 1971, he went to England to study comparative religion at Cambridge University. He continued to study to translate the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism.

Sogyal Rinpoche is Tibetan lama of the Nyingma tradition. He has been teaching for over more than twenty years and continues to travel widely in Europe, North America, Australia and Asia. Sogyal Rinpoche is the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa. Rigpa has international network of over 130 centres in 41 countries. He is also the author of the best-selling book “The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying”, of which has been published in 30 languages worldwide.
